The International Technology Cooperation Unit
MANDATE
Broad Functions:
- Provides central machinery for the planning, development, coordination, implementation, monitoring, integration and harmonization of the Department's programs on international S&T relations.
- Plans, develops and implements a program aimed at strengthening and expanding linkages in international cooperation in scientific and technological research and development with foreign governments international/regional organizations, private entities and similar organizations.
Specific Functions:
- Promotes and strengthens representations of the Department and its attached agencies, both locally and internationally, on matters relating to foreign scientific and technical cooperations, particularly in the context of satisfying procedural, substantive and other related requirements.
- Coordinates, monitors and provides support to to the implementation of inter-institutional, bilateral, regional and multilateral S&T cooperation in pursuit of national development priorities and programs
- Promotes the exchanges of scientific information and personnel, including provisions of other critical resources in furtherance of international/regional and bilateral S&T cooperation in pursuit of specific goals, policies, plans, programs and projects outlined in the National S&T Plan
- Coordinates and monitors the implementation of projects under the bilateral agreements concluded by the Philippines on S&T with other foreign S&T institutions.
- Acts as the National Secretariat for the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Committee on Science and Technology (COST) and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Industrial Science and Technology Working Group (IST WG).
