MECO-TECO Joint Research Cooperation

In pursuit of cooperation in Science and Technology, the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) was signed in Manila on 13 March 1997. While MECO and TECO are the main signatories to the agreement, the main implementing bodies are the DOST for the Manila Side and the National Science Council (NSC) for the Taipei side.

It was agreed that a yearly Joint Call for Proposals shall be made while a Joint Science and Technology Commission (JSTC) Meeting be called every two years for the evaluation of proposals. The First Manila-Taipei Joint Science and Technology Commission (JSTC) Meeting was held in Taipei on 20 May 2007 while the Second JSTC Meeting was held last 16 September 2009 in the Philippines.

For interested researchers, please note that the MECO-TECO Joint Research Cooperation is a joint project between researchers from both Philippine and Taiwan Institutions/Proponents. Having a co-proponent/collaborator from Taiwanese Research/Academic Institutions is the topmost requirement.
